Longtime Supreme Court judicial secretary Irene Springan died Sept. 9. Burial will be held at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Stanley. -
Berta L. Anstrom 1946-2022
Fargo attorney Berta L. Anstrom died Aug. 24. A UND School of Law graduate, she was admitted to the N.D. Bar in 1996. A small service for family members will be held at a later date. -
James F. Lester 1953-2022
Fargo attorney James F. Lester died Sept. 1. A UND School of Law graduate, he was admitted to the N.D. bar in 1981. A celebration of life gathering will be held Tuesday, Sept. 13, in Fargo. -
Frederick C. Rathert 1940-2022
Longtime Williston attorney Frederick C. Rathert died Sept. 8. He earned his law degree at the University of Montana and was admitted to the N.D. bar in 1965. A funeral service will be held Monday, Sept. 12 in Wolf Point, Mont. -
N.D. Attorney General opinion: Sept. 1
Attorney General Drew H. Wrigley has issued an opinion that the City of Mandan Board of Equalization did not violate open meeting laws because no notice was necessary for a meeting it did not hold. -
Dean A. Frantsvog 1974-2022
Minot attorney and educator Dean A. Frantsvog died Aug. 27. A Hamline University School of Law graduate, he was admitted to the N.D. bar in 2000. Funeral services are Friday, Sept. 2, at the Minot State University Dome. -
Michael Herrick 1944-2022
Grand Forks area native Michael Herrick died June 18. He was a UND School of Law graduate who served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps and later practiced law in California. -
Legislative drafting seminar registration open
The Legislative Council will hold a free legislative drafting seminar on Oct. 4. The seminar is worth 3 CLE credits. Registration is now open. -
N.D. Attorney General opinion: Aug. 19
Attorney General Drew H. Wrigley has issued an opinion that the term “electronic machine-readable code,” as utilized in N.D.C.C. § 23-01-05.3, is limited to a QR code related to vaccination records, but does not prohibit the use of QR codes in the normal, everyday activities of the department. -

Longtime court system employee Kimberly Hoge, 60, Bismarck, passed away peacefully the morning of August 11 at home after a fierce and tremendously brave battle with cancer. -

Bismarck attorney Illona A. Jeffcoat-Sacco died July 21. A UND School of Law graduate, she was admitted to the N.D. bar in 1976. -

Attorney Michael R. Lochow died July 25. A UND School of Law graduate, he was admitted to the N.D. bar in 1974. Services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 3, in Fargo. -
