Judge Schneider will not run for reelection in SCJD
South Central Judicial District Judge Thomas J. Schneider has announced that he will not be running for reelection in 2020. Judge Schneider served as a county judge from 1986-1994 and was first elected district judge in 1994. -
Judge Hagerty to retire
South Central Judicial District Presiding Judge Gail Hagerty has announced that she will retire effective March 16, 2020. Judge Hagerty served as a Burleigh County Judge from 1987-1994 and was first elected as a SCJD judge in 1994. -
Judge Fontaine honored for service as presiding judge in NEJD
On Nov. 24, Northeast Judicial District Presiding Judge Laurie Fontaine was recognized by colleagues and staff for her seven years service as presiding judge. Judge Donovan Foughty will be taking over as NEJD presiding judge Jan. 1, 2020. -

South Central Judicial District Courtroom Criminal Basics training continues
Twenty-eight attorneys attended the second session of the Courthouse Criminal Basics program Oct. 15. Two additional sessions will be held on Oct. 22 and 30 from 4-6 p.m. at the Burleigh County Courthouse. Each session has been approved for two hours of CLE credit. The sessions are free, and no registration is required. -
Judge Nesvig investiture set for Oct. 21
Pamela Nesvig will be sworn in as the newest South Central District Judge in a ceremony in the Morton County Courthouse on Monday, Oct. 21, at 1 p.m. Gov. Doug Burgum appointed Nesvig to the newly authorized judgeship on Aug. 12. -

SCJD to present free CLE program on criminal law practice
The South Central Judicial District will offer a free continuing legal education program in October geared to attorneys practicing criminal law. The program is titled "Courtroom Criminal Basics" and two-hour sessions will be held beginning at 4 p.m. on Tuesdays Oct. 8, 15, 22, and 29. -
North Dakota pretrial services pilot project moves ahead

The North Central Judicial District recently welcomed Steven Nelson to fill the position of law clerk located in Minot. He replaces Cathy Bacon, who recently retired after more than 20 years of service to the judges and referee in Unit 4. -
NWJD welcomes new law clerk
The Northwest Judicial District welcomed Charles Neff to serve as law clerk on July 1. The new position was approved by the 66th Legislative Assembly due to the continuing workload in the NWJD. -
