  • Judge Wallace D. Berning 1935-2022

    Retired District Judge Wallace D. Berning died June 26. A University of Missouri-Kansas City law graduate, he was admitted to the N.D. bar in 1964. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 1, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
  • Justice Beryl Levine 1935-2022

    Retired Supreme Court Justice Beryl Levine died June 4. A graduate of the UND School of Law, she was the first female Justice on the North Dakota Supreme Court. She was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1985 and retired in 1996.
  • Gregory B. Stites 1951-2022

    Bismarck attorney Gregory B. Stites died May 25. A graduate of the UND School of Law, he was admitted to the N.D. bar in 1977. A celebration of life will be held in the summer.
  • Judge Michael McGuire 1941-2022

    Retired East Central Judicial District Judge Michael McGuire died April 28. A UND School of Law graduate, he was admitted to the N.D. bar in 1972. Sharing of memories will take place May 11 in Fargo.

    Longtime Grand Forks lawyer Donald ‘Don’ John Olson died April 25. A UND School of Law graduate, he was admitted to the N.D. bar in 1963. Services will be held May 11 in Grand Forks.

    Longtime Grafton attorney Eddie G. Kopperud died April 26. A graduate of the UND School of Law, he was admitted to the N.D. bar in 1971. A memorial service will be held May 3 in Denver, Colo.

    Longtime Bismarck lawyer Gregory Runge died April 17. A graduate of the UND School of Law, he was admitted to the N.D. bar in 1989. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, April 28, in Bismarck.

    Longtime Stark County State's Attorney Tom Henning died Jan. 22. A graduate of the UND School of Law, he was admitted to the N.D. bar in 1979. A celebration of life will be held April 2 in Dickinson.
  • Neil A. McEwen 1937-2022

    Longtime Thief River Falls attorney Neil A. McEwen died March 12. A graduate of the UND School of Law, he was admitted to the N.D. bar in 1982. A memorial service will be held May 11 in Crosslake, Minn.
